This collection is inspired by my love human profile. It’s very fascinating to see a person looking totally different from just turning his or her head. The idea came after seeing one of my cousins mugshots from his wrongful arrest which really made me sad and I wanted to make positive images out of...

Bio; Idris Habib (Sir Idris) is a self-taught, multidisciplinary artist whose work blends cultural heritage, bold contemporary expression, and a deep sense of humanity. Born in Accra, Ghana, and raised in the Bronx, New York, Idris draws inspiration from a lifetime of travel rom African arts and street culture to European and American galleries and museums. He describes himself as a “citizen of the world,” using art as both therapy and a medium for storytelling. For over 18 years +, Idris has explored themes of music, spirituality, emotion, and the socio-political dimensions of human experience. His style is rooted in expressionism and contemporary art, with ventures into pop art and experimental mixed-media. He often works directly with his hands, allowing paint to guide the process, and incorporates recycled materials such as vinyl records, metals, fabrics collected from seamstresses in Ghana, New York City streets, reimagining them into powerful, thought-provoking compositions. Playful yet audacious, Idris’s work challenges orthodox ideas, celebrates cultural identity, and invites conversation. His vivid colors, layered textures, and iconic imagery captivate both visually and conceptually. His mission is to inspire and connect people across borders, with the goal of exhibiting his work nationally and internationally in spaces that value innovation, authenticity, and cultural dialogue. Artist Statement; Music is at the core of my artistic practice. Inspired by legends such as Sun Ra, Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, and Nina Simone, I translate rhythm, emotion, and spirit into visual form. Sheet music, instruments, and symbolic motifs often appear in my work, reflecting my belief that creativity feeds on creativity and that art can inspire the same spark it was born from. My paintings explore what it means to be human beyond labels and divisions. I celebrate Black beauty in all its shades and forms, using bold colors, layered textures, and black paint as a signature element. Color choices carry meaning: white and blue suggest purity and safety, while black reveals hidden truths. I work with unconventional materials such as fabrics, papers, and found objects and letting each surface influence the outcome. My process is partly controlled and partly surrendered to the painting itself. Art has transformed and grounded me; it is my therapy, my voice, and my way of inspiring others.
