Mila Halizova was born in 1992. As the granddaughter of a cabinetmaker and a pediatrician, she has long been fascinated by these natural sources of inspiration and manual work.ranging from preservation to decay. Her large tactile works combine collected natural objects such as acorns, seeds, inflorescences, cones, and algae. One could say that the visual impression of her work is derived from its tactility. All materials are found during the artist's frequent nature walks around the Bay of Kotor area and mountains. More recent investigations in her studio practice include earth, clay, resin, and tools with an intuitive sense of form. "Conjunction" refers to the physical connection between the two most important elements of her practice: her methods and materials, and how they are intertwined or conjoined. This process echoes the artist's deeply personal experiences and associations, as demonstrated by the titles of many of her paintings. Elements are simplified and pared down to what is essential. With such simplicity, the viewer can appreciate not only the sculptural details, such as the harmonious nature of connecting materials, but also the beauty and wonder offered by nature, which we often overlook. The elegant simplicity of Mila Halizova's line belies its complex process. The expression of beauty, while exploring the properties of natural elements, remains at the heart of her practice. The sensitive interpretation of Mila's paintings does not stop at their surface, which only acts as a skin, hiding a much deeper and less straightforward level of interpretation.
