COSMOS Painting

Hi! My name is Brit Webber and I’m a multidisciplinary artist and designer whose work examines the theoretical underpinnings of architecture as they relate to how we can employ the nuanced characteristics of the discipline to tell stories, express emotions, and capture the essence of a moment or idea through marks, colors and compositions. I work primarily in acrylic while infusing other materials such as graphite, oil pastels, paper, and ink to differentiate between concepts or emphasize details. I've always been fascinated by the way that spaces hold memory and inform how we perceive the world around us. My childhood memories, for instance, were framed by recalling the essence and energy of spaces I had been in, the sensation of traversing thresholds, and even the quality of light that shone through windows and onto surfaces. It was only recently that I recognized this as my attempt at remedying feelings of instability as a child and this is ultimately what laid the foundation for my fascination with architecture. Today, my practice revolves around crafting works that are underscored by my love of art and design, my appreciation for the intellectual rigor involved in crafting spaces, and that honor the little girl in search of structure and safety.
