Jonathan Ducrest is an award-winning photographer whose work seamlessly bridges the natural and urban worlds, celebrated internationally for its evocative storytelling and masterful compositions. Born and raised amid the dramatic mountain vistas of Switzerland, Ducrest first discovered his passion for photography with a simple point-and-shoot camera gifted by his parents, capturing the ever-changing light and atmospheric beauty of the Swiss Alps. These early experiences with nature’s grandeur laid the foundation for a remarkable artistic journey that now spans continents. In 1998, Ducrest relocated to New York City, where the soaring skyscrapers and architectural marvels expanded his visual language. He developed a distinct style that draws parallels between the untamed forces of nature and the bold geometry of urban landscapes. His move to Los Angeles in 2013 further enriched his creative path, as he explored the West Coast’s diverse environments—from sun-bleached deserts to cinematic ocean vistas—infusing his work with a unique sense of place and visual drama. Ducrest’s artistry has earned him widespread acclaim, with his photographs collected by private collectors and Fortune 500 companies around the globe. His work is featured in prominent corporate and institutional collections, including Netflix, and has appeared in productions for Disney-ABC, Warner Media, and Apple. Recognized for its emotional resonance and technical precision, his photography has been showcased in exhibitions worldwide, including the Royal Academy of London, where his climate-focused edition of Out of Gas sold out within a month. Over the course of his career, Ducrest has received numerous honors, including a citation from the American Institute of Architects for Petrol Station 2018, two AIA Los Angeles awards in 2022 for Woman on a Bridge and Wrap de Triomphe, and the prestigious reFocus Architecture Photography Gold Award in 2025 for his Tempelhof Airport series in Berlin. His acclaimed series Lockdown L.A. poignantly captured the haunting stillness of the city during the pandemic, further cementing his reputation as a visual narrator of contemporary life. Praised by Saatchi Art as one of “21 Artists to Watch,” Jonathan Ducrest’s work has been featured in Vogue, Monocle, and Condé Nast Traveler, and continues to captivate audiences with its profound celebration of both natural and built environments.
