Ernest Mazarekic

Ernest Mazarekić (born 1991 in Slavonski Brod) is an independent documentary photographer based in Zagreb. After completing his secondary education, he developed a strong interest in photography, becoming actively engaged in the medium from 2015 onward. He has since established himself within the field of street photography.

His work has been publicly presented as part of the OKOLO Festival in 2020. He is the founder of the photo and streetwear brand Push Harder, which he introduced through a solo exhibition at Radionica 32. In 2024, he published the photozine Od Britanca do Jelačića, documenting everyday life across central Zagreb.

Mazarekić’s most recent exhibition, Indija to go, was shown at Klet Gallery in Zagreb and the Art Gallery of the City of Slavonski Brod, featuring portraits from his travels across India. Since 2024, he has been a member of the Zagreb Street Photo Collective.

His photographic practice focuses on documenting everyday life, with a particular emphasis on street scenes, human emotion, portraits, and skate culture. His visual approach is characterized by an interest in fleeting urban moments, layered compositions, and the narrative potential of the city environment.
