Clair Eve

Born in Paris on the 9th of April, 1972, former pupil of the well-known Ecole Supérieure d’Art graphique Met de Penninghen (l’Académie Julian), then of GOBELINS (specialisation in story-boards), I worked as a graphic designer, then a story-boarder in the cartoon industry for a number of years. From 2003, I dedicated myself entirely to painting.
Trained at a very academic school, where drawing was at the heart of my apprenticeship, I first focused my efforts on portrait-painting, which I saw as a technical challenge. I have carried out a large number of portraits in oil on canvas, generally large formats. Over the years, my goal has been to define a personal signature, a chromatic spectrum, a personal language and to acquire greater spontaneity and liberty. My aim is to produce a body of work that is sincere, intimate and as free as possible.
