Fanny Horowitz

I took my first painting lesson in 2007, thought it could be a refreshing hobby. But very soon I was captured by the art. In 2014 I decided to quit my job and fully dedicate myself to painting. I have my own studio now, and I am a full-time painter.

I studied Economics and Education and I have a Master's degree in Business Administration

I learned painting with several painters.
I am an autodidact painter.

For me, painting is setting out on an adventure.

My work materials are diverse, ranging from oils on canvas to acrylics, watercolor and pastels. I practice mono-type, dry point and aquatint printmaking. And I do collages.

In my work, I explore the environment around me. I use photos I take myself and photos found on the internet in order to examine the border between authentic women and the somehow detached characters posing to the watchful eye of society.
In other works, I use simple accessories – an imitation pearl necklace, silver shoes, or a leather coat – as status symbols to the role they are playing in women's social self.

I take a special interest in light. In the way it bounces back from different objects. In the interaction between objects and the light that envelops them. In the special colors that are formed by these reflections of light.

I live and work in Tel Aviv, Israel.
