Fazio Lauria

Italian artist with a predilection for the figurative art style.

During the course of his career he has experimented his technique on all kinds of materials and surfaces, for example by putting his twist on the canonic view of the classic torsos or even giving soul to ordinary and lifeless pieces of furniture.

His themes can vary from the bold interpretation of love and sexuality, conveyed by the beauty of the feminine body and silhouette, to the clear sense of dynamism and freedom, thanks to the choice of a more realistic depiction of animals, and even to death, whose traces can be found in each one of his works, even though they are most evident in those paintings that depict the still life or floral and natural elements in general.
The constant presence of death in his paintings, which as a matter of fact is often associated with antithetic elements such as the beauty of nature, is, to an extent, a way to let out the torment of a painful loss in his life.

Despite his faith in realism, he refuses to limit his art to the mere representation of reality, and decides to always put his own perspective and point of view in his works .

After graduating at Accademia delle Belle Arti, in Brera, in 1973, he learned how to master his specific style and versatile technique by following the lessons of great teachers (and fellow artists from Milan) such as Mariani, Cavaliere and Borra.
