Fernanda Andrade

Through drawings, paintings and installations, I create paths in which one can wander. I drain lines, mark circles, weave circuits, and highlight tensions to create complex spaces. My "expanded drawings" start with experimental and heterogeneous processes, in which fragmentations, approximations, crossings, and deviations are used to trace fields and landscapes, bringing movement as a conceptual representation of the insufficiency of a single, logical, and inert perspective.

Bachelor degree in Painting from the School of Fine Arts of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (Escola de Belas Artes, Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro).

The School of Visual Arts Parque Lage was also very important in my art studies, specially the "De-formation course: Resistance and Emergency", which was a year long orientation and follow-up for 20 selected artists in 2019. The course included portfolio presentations, lectures and visits to studios of women artists in Rio de Janeiro.

Last, and definitely not least, I studied art and graphic design in the Netherlands, at the Rietveld Academie and the Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten, from 2006 to 2009.
