Filadelfa Rodriguez is a Singapore-based Filipina artist creating abstract works shaped by rhythm, emotion, and the organic movement of form. Her process begins with loose sketches, small fragments that become the starting point from which each painting unfolds. Working primarily in oil and mixed media on canvas, she builds each piece slowly, layer by layer, guided by instinct rather than fixed ideas, until the balance feels right.
This way of working traces back to childhood. While others chased the sun, she found comfort indoors among scraps of paper and worn-down pencils, drawing faces, objects, and scenes from her restless imagination. Art was both play and refuge, a space where her inner world could take form. That space has since grown from the page to the canvas, and the same impulse still leads her.
Today, her paintings move between stillness and momentum, softness and structure, shaped by emotion, memory, and the gradual changes that shape who she becomes. Drawn to colour, organic forms, and the balance between restraint and release, she creates quiet spaces for the viewer to pause in. Abstraction is her way of exploring atmosphere, making room for what is sensed before it is understood.
