Florinela, an artist deeply connected to the transformative power of oil on canvas, considers colors, brushes, and the texture of the medium to be the ultimate tools for profound self-expression. For her, painting is an exploration of the self—a journey where oil paint becomes the conduit to manifest the complexities of modern life, enveloped in timeless beauty. Rooted in centuries-old classical techniques, she pushes the boundaries of tradition, embracing an adventurous and playful approach that allows her to materialise contemporary concepts in ways that challenge perception.
While her preferred tools are brushes and spatulas, Florinela is an innovator at heart, using a diverse array of unconventional materials to craft intricate layered patterns. From torn cloth to hands, rhinestones, feathers, and even bricklayer’s tools, every element in her environment could become a potential instrument in her creative process. This willingness to experiment gives her work a distinct texture, incorporating volume, transparency, and depth.
