Valda Batraks, M.F.A. is an internationally recognized contemporary artist whose work unites Baltic stillness with the luminous atmosphere of the Arabian landscape. Her abstract compositions and evocative imagery resonate with collectors drawn to emotional depth, disciplined structure, and cultural continuity.
Her art is a tapestry woven from diverse threads — from the tranquil countryside of Latgalia, where as a child she assisted her father in restoring church altar paintings, to the vibrant environment of Saudi Arabia, where she now lives and works. This lifelong dialogue between heritage and discovery forms the foundation of her visual language.
Raised in Latvia by an art-teacher father and a physics-mathematics teacher mother, Valda developed an approach that blends intuitive expression with measured precision. Light and shadow, movement and stillness, memory and presence are recurring themes across her practice.
Her work has received international recognition, including the World Heritage Series Postage Stamp Design Contest (Tokyo), the Taiwan International Art Fair, and the Parchemin d’Honneur (France). She has exhibited at the Bangkok International Art Triennale and participated in multiple international print and drawing...
