About fred budin

ARTIST STATEMENT
We all see things differently. What we perceive as reality is really determined by many different factors. These include our self-image, physical makeup, background, religion and ethnicity. The people, places, and things we have encountered during the course of our lives also have a profound effect on how we interpret what we see.
As an artist, I am fortunate to be able to put on canvas, my perceptions of the world. I present to the viewer, familiar things, filtered through the unique experiences of my life. I make no attempt or pretense of being objective, my work is a subjective statement and reflects

"THE WORLD AS SEEN THROUGH MY EYES “

Education

Bachelor of science, major industrial engineering.

I have no formal art education whatsoever, in my late 40s during a real estate deal, I met an artist here in Atlanta (Quida Kennedy), who had seen some of my drawings and offered me three months of free lessons in painting ( I had never even held a paintbrush in my hand before that moment )
I studied with her for three years until I had my first show and she said I was ready to work on my own .
Although we remained friends and I still asked her opinion on my work until she passed on in the mid-90s .
I am considered an outsider when it comes to art and although my teacher was a portrait painter and taught me to paint that way I have always been fascinated by folk art and draw heavily from the form and freedom of folk art.
I have met, shown y work and been friendly with many southern folk artists
