Jean-Claude Dery is a Canadian artist born in 1964 in Montreal, Quebec.
He began his artistic journey in 1994, working with watercolor, pencil, and traditional brush techniques—foundations that continue to shape his sense of atmosphere, movement, and emotion.
Over the years, he has exhibited in galleries throughout Montreal and across Quebec, developing a distinctive visual language rooted in sensitivity and expressive energy. His works are held in private collections in Canada, the United States, Europe, and Australia.
His practice is strongly focused on abstract painting, where he explores emotion, rhythm, and depth through expressive gestures, layered texture, and bold contrasts of light and color. Each piece is created to feel alive—inviting the viewer into a space of memory, intensity, and quiet contemplation.
In recent years, he has also developed a growing interest in photography, exploring it as a complementary medium to his painting. Through photography, he captures atmosphere, light, and movement, expanding the same emotional and visual themes that define his abstract work.
Now based in Germany, Jean-Claude continues to refine a contemporary body of work designed to bring a powerful visual presence to modern interiors...
I studied Literature at the Université de Montréal (Canada). I began painting as a self-taught artist in 1990, gradually shaping a distinctive visual language through years of personal exploration, discipline, and continuous refinement.
I have exhibited my work in galleries throughout Montreal and Quebec City, and I also participated in the Salon des métiers d’art at Place Bonaventure in Montreal—an important event celebrating fine craft and artistic creation.
