I create abstract impressions of places and people, focusing on the energy and feeling rather than the literal objects in front of me. By simplifying forms or allowing them to blur into one another, I aim to capture the essence of a moment - its movement, atmosphere, and emotion.
Living on the edge of the Peak District, I am inspired by vast, ever-changing landscapes, dramatic weather, and the sense of peace that comes from being in nature. I am fascinated by the idea that creativity and connection with the natural world can slow us down, draw us out of our heads, and into our bodies, helping to regulate our nervous system. In an age dominated by digital life, I believe art is more essential than ever - a way to reconnect with ourselves, with the world around us, and with the simple joy of looking, making, and feeling.
My work often evokes calm, fresh air, joy, and play, creating space to be still, slow, silly, and ultimately joyful. I primarily work in oil paints on canvas, producing both original artworks - from landscapes to looser abstracts and bespoke commissions tailored to interior spaces, collaborating with individuals or interior designers to respond to a specific brief.
