Made-Manik Ganesh Harshad

Made Manik Ganesh Harshad is an Indonesia, Bali-based emerging artist from Manuaba Village whose practice explores spirituality, ecology, memory, and cultural transformation through painting. Although not born and raised entirely in Bali, he grew up closely connected to Balinese culture through his family heritage and surrounding environment. From an early age, he was exposed to Balinese traditions, philosophies, rituals, and visual culture, influences that continue to shape his artistic perspective and emotional connection to the island.

His artistic foundation developed through the study of traditional Balinese painting techniques, which introduced him to narrative imagery, symbolism, ornamentation, and layered storytelling. Building upon these traditional influences, Ganesh developed a contemporary figurative and expressive visual language characterized by bright contrasting colours, decorative forms, symbolic characters, and imaginative compositions. Influenced by Balinese cosmology, indigenous philosophy, and local mythology, his works often reflect on the fragile relationship between humans, nature, and spirituality within contemporary Balinese life.
