Judith Gaunt

The soul of my work lies in saturated color and texture, and how these impact the emotions, imagination, intellect... They mine the interior life, this is the richest seam, and each being is an icon. I generally use a limited palette of 5 oil colours although i will use anything to achieve my aims. I work from life, images and the subconscious. I am naive and rough, I love both fuzzy and sharp edges, I revel in distortion and rawness. I distress my canvases and their edges. I want you to connect with me at the gut level. My aim is to create "a powerful image"; and once I have finished the process, an exorcism has taken place and the work contains my energy.
