Geneviève Roy

This pictorial journey on the theme of urbanity is an opportunity to combine two fields that have played an important part in the artist's career path: architecture and art. The Cartesian composition of the industrial buildings and architectural features creates a balance with the abstract and atmospheric collage of colours evoking the energy of the city.

These objects and elements, integrated into public spaces, can be perceived by the visitor to be the pieces of a puzzle that form the cityscape, a work of art. Once this premise is accepted, any object within the cityscape becomes worthy of interest. That is why, among the fragments, we find some that are objectively remarkable and identifiable, while others remain vague and subjectively mundane.

Poetic and mysterious, the fragments take the spectator on a meandering journey across the Montréal cityscape over a short space of time.
