George began his formal training at Grimsby School of Art, and later studied drawing under Ilsa Brittain at the University for the Creative Arts. His luminous portfolio is informed by the remote northern wilderness of Sweden where he lives. "My work is always connected in some way to the place where I live, to its wildness and energy. I'm fascinated by the tension between closeness and distance in the idea of landscape and visual approaches to the natural world." George works in small-scale watercolours, oils and mixed media, presented on unframed paper and stretched canvas.
George is also an award-winning poet and translator, published in the United Kingdom by Shearsman Books [see ].
In addition to his art training at Grimbsy and UCA, George was schooled in philosophy at London School of Economics, Hull University and Edinburgh University. He holds a doctorate from the University of East Anglia.
