Gerard Rouwen produces artworks that include abstract canvases, in which large expanses of colour are central. He strives to blend colour and composition into a stimulating, moving and harmonious whole. Of his own work he says: "I can express myself in abstract art in a way which is quite impossible in the real world. I apply layer after layer of color in the search of those hues that give rise to a certain kind of resonance.
