Ghia Haddad is a visual artist from Dubai. Born in Beirut, Ghia understands the power that art and artists have to spark positive social change through expressive color and imagery. She is passionate about examining identities of underrepresented women through her figurative art. Ghia expresses these identities by infusing her female portrait paintings with flowing fabrics, handmade flowers, beads, string and embroidery, thus challenging the traditional belief that fiber art does not have a legitimate space within high art. She also paints Arabic calligraphy with fabric collages on acrylic pours - vivid expressions in the language of her people; Arabic words mirroring their journey, their experience and the shades of their shifting identities.
Ghia obtained a BS in Advertising Design and a BA in Art History from the University of Maryland at College Park in 1991, and a Masters degree in Museum Studies from the University of Leicester in the UK in 2025.
Ghia Haddad has exhibited extensively in solo, group, and juried exhibitions across the Middle East, Europe, and the United States. Her work has been presented at venues including World Art Dubai, Haus der Kulturen (Germany), Woman Made Gallery (Chicago), the Maryland Federation of Art, the Sandy Spring Museum, DIFC Art Nights, and the Conrad Dubai Public Art Space, alongside numerous curated exhibitions throughout the UAE. Her practice has also been featured in international online exhibitions, auctions, and artist showcases, reflecting an ongoing engagement with contemporary conversations around cultural memory, identity, and material practice.
