Gianluca Ferrero is an Italian fine art photographer based in Bordighera, on the Ligurian coast near the French border. His black and white work explores family memory, separation and the ambiguous nature of truth, drawing on his own family history to create intimate, narrative-driven series. He was awarded at Sanremo Photo Fest in 2025 and 2026, where his series "Dark Angel, White Angel" received an Honorable Mention. His long-term project "Quel bambino" has been exhibited at CIFA Bibbiena, the Viterbo photography festival and Villa Ormond in Sanremo, and published by FotoIT and Phocus Magazine. He works in traditional and digital darkroom processes, combining archival material with constructed imagery.
Trained in authorial photography with Nausicaa Giulia Bianchi (documentary photographer, ICP New York graduate), Michele Di Donato (set photographer for Netflix) and Fosca Piccinini (expert in vernacular photography and family archives), with a focus on authorial photography, the unconscious and family.
