Giselle Peters was born in Saskatchewan, Canada. She completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ceramics at the Alberta College of Art and Design and a Bachelor of Psychology with Distinction at Concordia University in Montreal. She worked for several years in the field of brain injury and developmental disabilities, including research for the use of creative arts in human development, before deciding to focus once again on visual arts. Giselle has participated in artist residency programs in both Canada and the United States and has received two individual project grants from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts. She has exhibited her work internationally and currently lives in Zaragoza, Spain. She works primarily in clay but also explores mixed media such as paint, fabric and photographs, enhancing her sculpture with vivid surface decoration and giving depth to her paintings through sculpted elements.
Her painted work speaks of self-perception, memory, nostalgia, the passage of time, femininity, childhood. She often uses family photos to contrast ethereal perceptions of reality with the physical presence of the sculpted materials.
