Giulia Mariotti

Italian figurative painter based in Rome, working in oil on wood panel and canvas. Trained at the Liceo Artistico and later specialised in fresco restoration at the Colarucci school, I spent years working on historical pictorial cycles in ecclesiastical settings. I further developed my visual language through trompe l'oeil decoration for luxury hotels between Rome and Venice, and a three-year programme in illustration at the Scuola Internazionale di Comics.
My work explores the boundary between human form and natural world, with a particular focus on the intimate relationship between consciousness and landscape.
My ongoing series "Humana Natura" investigates the organic fusion of human figures with trees, creating hybrid organisms where identity dissolves into nature. Alongside this research, my figurative paintings — portraits and intimate studies — capture moments of stillness, inner reflection, and emotional intimacy with striking anatomical precision.
Whether through the hybrid bodies of Humana Natura or the quiet contemplation of a child crowned with autumn leaves, I paint the moment where the human stops and nature begins, or rather, the moment where that distinction ceases to exist. Oil on wood panel allows me to build these...
