Draughtsmanship has always been a core focus in my work being influenced by many of the great masters but particularly Degas, Turner and Monet. Alongside these traditional influences I also often turn to some of the more modern masters for inspiration from Dali through to Norman Rockwell, Lucien Freud and of course Picasso. Although my work is predominantly figurative, impressionism plays a central role in most of what I do with a fascination for shape and form.
With this passion for form it is of little surprise that the human figure, portraiture and wildlife have been common subject matter for me, especially having grown up in close proximity to the smells, excitement and mystery of the African wilderness.
The majority of my adult life however has been spent living in London, Geneva and New York and I am now resident in the rolling green hills of the Berkshire countryside in the UK. This has provided a whole array of influences that are becoming increasingly evident in my work. However, it will always be the people I have met along the way that have helped shape and discipline my draughtsmanship, or always been there to encourage and inspire me, for which I will always be truly grateful.
