I have been exhibiting Nationally and Internationally for over 40 years. I am in the collections of numerous major museums including the Art Institute of Chicago, The Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, MOCRA, St. Louis, MO., The Daum Museum of Contemporary Art, Sedalia, Mo., and Fundacio Llorens Artigas, Gallifa, Spain. There are numerous books and publications on my work. I am currently represented by Jean Paul Perrier Art Gallery, Barcelona, Spain and Zolla/Lieberman Gallery, Chicago, Il.

I currently have a retrospective survey of over 70 works borrowed from major museums throughout the United States. The exhibition is at the Chazen Museum of Art, Madison, Wi. Oct. 12, 2017-Jan. 7, 2018. The exhibition is entitled "Certainty and Doubt: The Paintings of Dan Ramirez." There is a fully illustrated catalogue that includes essays ("A Minimalist Romance") by Richard Shiff, and Buzz Spector, ("Dan Ramirez: Music of Spheres")

Richard Shiff is Effie Marie Cain Regents Chair in Art at The University of Texas at Austin, where he directs the Center for the Study of Modernism. His scholarly work has focused on modern and contemporary art, and he has written about such wide ranging artists as Ellsworth Kelly, Bridget Riley, Willem de Kooning, Richard Serra, Peter Doig, Donald Judd, Cy Twombly, Julie Mehretu, and Barnett Newman. His publications include "Cézanne and the End of Impressionism" (1984), "Critical Terms for Art History" (co edited, 1996, 2003), "Barnett Newman: A Catalogue Raisonné" (co authored, 2004), "Doubt" (2008), "Between Sense and de Kooning" (2011), and "Ellsworth Kelly: New York Drawings 1954–1962" (2014)
