I am Gemma Ramírez (Gradel), a contemporary visual artist based in Madrid

My artistic journey represents a natural evolution following an extensive career in fashion and graphic design—fields that instilled in me a deep command over spatial structure, formal balance, and color theory.

My current work explores geometric abstraction with a subtle, non-dogmatic spiritual. I approach the canvas as a quiet sanctuary and a threshold for contemplation. Driven by a purely intuitive and channeled process, my paintings unfold without prior sketches. Through states of meditation, soft color palettes and structured geometries emerge organically as symbolic languages of hope, memory, and presence.

Alongside my pictorial research, I investigate three-dimensionality by handcrafting and altering my own stretcher frames. By developing unconventional and altered formats, the physical support ceases to be a passive boundary and becomes an active participant in the work’s spatial dialogue.

Ultimately, I seek to transform living spaces into serene refuges—gentle bridges between geometry and emotion, light and shadow, the material and the intangible.

1992 – 1996: Higher Degree in Fashion Design and Styling ESED (Escuela Superior de Diseño de Moda y Estilismo), Madrid, Spain.

Four-year accredited training with technical specialization in Plastic and Visual Arts, focusing on Color Theory, Academic Live-Model Drawing, Line and Textile Texture Analysis, and Art History.
