Greg Houston

I'm an illustrator and I've worked in just about every corner of the illustration profession over the last 38+ years-- magazines, newspapers, websites, ad agencies, comic book and book publishing, etc. I've also written and illustrated two graphic novels based on my original concepts (Vatican Hustle, 2009, and Elephant Man, 2010-- both for NBM Publishing) and I've written two books on illustration (Illustration That Works, 2015, and Understanding Caricature, 2020-- both for The Monacelli Press/Phaidon Books). I taught illustration for 9 years at The Maryland Institute College of Art and I've owned and operated my own unaccredited school, The Baltimore Academy of Illustration, since 2015. I work in a lot of styles (original and organic to me) and prefer acrylic paint on canvas panels, acrylic and ink on paper, or simple ink on paper. I also do a lot of work for myself including landscapes, portraits, animals and more.
