Born in Australia in 1972, lives and works in Melbourne. Greville examines littoral states between artifice and nature through painting. With architecture, landscape and art history as subjects, Greville's images draw on existing graphic vernaculars and modes of graphic production as points of reference.
Up until 2005 Greville worked mainly on video, sculpture and curatorial actions in seminal Sydney artist-run spaces such as Rubyare and Imperial Slacks. From 2005-2009 Greville Co-founded and ran Studio Zeds, a cross-disciplinary studio with Técha Noble (The Kingpins) with an emphasis on producing work for the public sphere. In addition to recent collaborations on sculpture and performance works in Berlin, Munich and Melbourne, he launched an ongoing relational project: "˜Snip Green' a moniker under which he produces illustration commissions for the real world.
Piers Greville's continuing focus is on painting, with further exhibitions planned in 2012.
