Gustavo Aguirre

I am a contemporary figurative artist with a lifelong dedication to painting for over 40 years. Specializing in oil on canvas, my work explores the delicate boundaries between the visible and the psychological, the sensual and the mysterious, capturing moments that invite the viewer to complete the narrative.
With an aesthetic that bridges the meticulous detail of contemporary realism with the vibrant, immediate visual impact of pop culture, I focus on the human form, textures, and symbolic spaces. For me, oil paint is an essential medium; its slow process allows me to carefully work through layers, glazes, and skin tones to capture both physical realism and emotional depth developed through decades of practice.
Every piece I create is an open-ended question—an atmospheric space where color, contrast, and psychological tension meet to explore memory, secrets, and human vulnerability.

I hold a Bachelor’s Degree and a Professor's Degree in Fine Arts, with a specialization in Painting, from the Faculty of Arts at the National University of La Plata (UNLP), Argentina. This rigorous academic background laid the foundation for my deep understanding of technique, color theory, and visual narrative.

Since 1984, he has actively participated in numerous art competitions and exhibitions across the country, receiving several awards and honorable mentions. His work has been showcased at prominent venues and institutions, including the Bonaerense Museum of Fine Arts, the Bank of Boston, the Visual Arts Center, the Eduardo Sívori Museum, the Fra Angelico Art Museum, Arte BA 99, the Association of Plastic Artists, and the Pasaje Dardo Rocha.
His artwork has also been featured in exclusive spaces such as the Harapacis Hotel, Talara Hotel, Cuatro Estaciones Hotel, and the renowned Llao-Llao Hotel, as well as the Spinetto Shopping Mall and the Núcleo de Arte Gallery. Furthermore, his pieces were represented for consecutive seasons by major galleries in the city of Buenos Aires, including Vyp Gallery, Lagard Gallery, and Centoira Gallery.
