Hamid Taherypour

Hamid Taherypour (born 2 September 1967, Amol, Iran) is an Iranian visual artist based in Tehran and the founder of Hamid Taherypour Studio. He spent his school years, through high school, in Germany, an early exposure to European culture that shaped his eye for form and craft.

His connection with art began through traditional carpet design. Studying under established masters, he learned composition, rhythm, structural proportion, color harmony and the discipline of detail. That training became a visual language he never left. It also led him into the carpet industry, where design knowledge met an understanding of craft, value and market culture.

His business activities later expanded into insurance, construction and hospitality, including hotel development in Germany, through Oxin Holding, the diversified group he founded in 2008 and still owns. Alongside this career he earned two doctorates in Economics, from Tarbiat Modares University and from Islamic Azad University, Science and Research Branch.

Since 2020, Taherypour has made visual art the center of his life. He has created more than one hundred works in bronze, wood, plaster, fabric and papier-mâché. His sculptures are not decorative objects. They are built around tension...
