Hani O'Keeffe

Born in Northern Cyprus in 1956. Grew up in London, now live near Malvern in Worcestershire

I paint in acrylic paint on canvas, in a free and expressive style, using pastels on paper to develop ideas first. My main subjects are Portraits, Still-life and Abstracts all of which I love equally.Like every Artist, I have my own way of looking at the world around me, and work hard to develop the personal visual language that will help me express this as fluently and honestly as possible. Colour is very important to me, just like musical notes, it can connect with and heighten our emotions. I am inspired by many Artists past and present, world cultures. Literature, Science, New ideas and philosophies.

Instead of going to Art School, I trained and worked with a group of Artists and Illustrators in a London Studio for nine years. I then worked as a Freelance Illustrator for over 15 years, establishing a good reputation under my full name Hanife Hassan O'Keeffe. Along side all of this I attended St Martins,and The Cenral school of art for regular life drawing classes. My most recent exhibition was at the Sofra Restaurant, Covent Garden. Past exhibitions have been in mixed shows at Smiths Gallery, covent Garden, The AOI gallery,London and Hull Illustration Musuem. ,
