Hanna Baranova

I grew up in a small yet remarkably picturesque town in the south of Ukraine. From an early age, I was surrounded by generous nature, and its beauty has forever remained in my heart. This love for the living world continues to guide me today. In my artworks one can trace the connection between humans and nature, the values of family, and the strength of close relationships.
Painting gives me a sense of freedom and a retreat from routine and the noise of my three little mischief-makers sons. I find special joy in the wet-on-wet technique — watching the paints flow softly and freely, creating perfect blends and gradients. For me, it feels like meditation. And in another approach — when I use a semi-dry brush to paint the fur of animals or the delicate bodies of insects — a striking sense of realism and tangibility of the image comes to life.
