Sarah Hansegard

Sarah Hansegard, an abstract painter and photographer, was born and raised in Minneapolis, MN, now based in Phoenix, AZ. She grew up along the banks of the Mississippi River where she found spiritual refuge along the wooded pathways that beckoned her attention in youth. Dappled sunlight, rooted trails, and flowing water remain a permanent fixture in her memory and a place of meditative visitation. Sarah’s abstract paintings emphasize these elements with their translucent, watery layers of paint, laid upon the textures found below. Her art is the representation of history and seasons past. She replicates this special place through line, color, and the duality of shadow and light to continue that inner journey in her work.
