Hans Van Weerd

A contemporary visual artist based in Ulft (The Netherlands) after a 12-yr stay in Melbourne (Australia), I sketch, draw and paint. I capture the essence of what it is that I see or feel: the emotion, the mood, the tension, the movement. I do that in all media, from charcoal sketches on paper to oil paintings on linen.
My work is in private collections in the Netherlands, France, the UK, Australia, the USA and Canada. A few works have been purchased for use in the Netflix series ‘Clickbait’ while other works were used as book-illustrations.
With my art work I have been a finalist in various art prize competitions in Australia, the UK and The Netherlands.

In 2023, I was selected to participate in the 2024 edition of the Dutch TV show ‘The Rembrandt Project.’
I currently have my studio in the town of Winterswijk (The Netherlands).

While without a formal education in the Arts, I developed myself as a visual artist by doing workshops and art classes with Simon Woudwijk, Rombout Berkelaar and Vincent van Oss, all in the Netherlands, and with Yvonne Audette, Lewis Miller, Godwin Bradbeer and Marco Luccio in Australia. I currently have masterclasses with Dilip Sur in the UK

From 2017 to the present day I have been in 32 group exhibitions, 5 solo exhibitions and 8 art fairs in Australia, the Netherlands and Germany
