Hanu Swami

Hanu Swami is a Government Registered Artisan (Ministry of Textiles, Government of India) and a young contemporary miniature artist from Bikaner, Rajasthan, India. As the youngest generation of a family of traditional master artisans, he is dedicated to preserving and advancing the centuries-old Bikaner School of Miniature Painting through exceptional craftsmanship and contemporary artistic vision.

Since 2020, Hanu has trained under the guidance of renowned miniature artist Raju Swami, mastering every stage of the traditional process—from preparing handmade Wasli paper and grinding natural mineral pigments to painting with an ultra-fine single-hair brush and applying delicate 24K gold leaf. His rigorous apprenticeship has developed the patience, precision, and technical excellence that define classical Indian miniature painting.

While deeply rooted in tradition, Hanu believes that heritage art must continue to evolve. His work explores botanical studies, royal themes, Sufi-inspired compositions, antique paper paintings, and innovative wearable miniature art that connects centuries-old craftsmanship with contemporary design.
