" I like to be challenged and I love the process of painting and making artists prints. When I paint, I leave visible layers of paint and marks and sometimes drips of paint. Hopefully, the viewer is aware of the texture of the paint and the power of the artists brush on the canvas. Printmaking is exciting because of the surprise when I pull the newly made prints off the press and see the results of the ink on the paper.
I abstract and simplify forms and interpret color. I like to create a mood in my work. I am interested in paintings that are not ordinary. I tend to work in a series. Some of my past serious themes have been reactions to gun violence and the need for us to be gentle and calm in the face of our sometimes nerve-wracking environment. My abstract and realistic paintings and prints are inspired by nature and the world around us. "
