Harriet Selka

My practice explores the existence of people. Recently, I have explored human interaction with nature, studying the delicate balance between the landscape and the man made. My paintings lead the viewer into nature, invited by the man made.

The other thread to my practice is contemporary portraiture - I continue to be captivated by the process of translating a person’s being from life to paint, while subtly obscuring the expectations of a painted portrait.
