Born in Warwickshire, Helen moved to the West Country, firstly to read European Studies at The University of Bath in 1981 and latterly, in 1994, to set up home with her family in The Chew Valley, where she remains to this day, having done a stint in London working as a graduate trainee with Bass Charrington.

Helen read European Studies at The University of Bath in 1981 (a four year BA Honours Degree).

It is from the web that she taught herself to make armatures, which opened up a whole new world.
Her untutored efforts were consolidated by more formal study at Queens Road College of Art and Design in Bristol.
