Hina is a contemporary realist painter based in Karachi, Pakistan. Known for intimate compositions of the familiar, her oil paintings explore rooms, doorways, and bedsides as spaces layered with nostalgia, identity, joy, and ritual. She finds her subjects in the immediacy of her own world: the people she loves, the rooms she inhabits, her collection of personal photographs, and the overlooked objects of daily life. Through this lens, her work seeks to reveal the raw vulnerability of ordinary private spaces. Drawing on influences from the old masters to modernists such as Edouard Manet and Lucian Freud, as well as women artists including Artemisia Gentileschi, Frida Kahlo, and Georgia O’Keeffe, she merges classical technique with a contemporary sensibility.
Hina’s love for painting began in childhood, during long afternoons spent leafing through her mother’s art books. After completing medical school, she pursued further training through workshops at local art schools and through online study of classical methods using resources such as YouTube and Patreon. In 2022, she committed herself fully to her practice and is currently developing a body of work in her home studio.
