Dimitris Petropoulos

I was born in the city of thessaloniki ,the second biggest town in Greece,where i grew up and i continued to live there till now.My artistics influences have to do with artists who love the colors and simplicity like D.Hockney, Alex Katz, Henri Mattise,Tom Weselman and maybe Andy Warhol.My inspiration is drawn by the spirit of friendly young women with freedom of thought and my future aims is to capture a sence of sentualism, childishness and sophistication of those women through painting.

Ι graguated the department of applied and fine arts of the city of Florina (2011), and before that,i used to paint external and internal rooms of cafe ,parks,shops,squares of the town of thessaloniki daylight in a colorful style which had references in pop art, fauvism and graphic art.The medium that i use was acrylics.During the education years in the above school of art ,i painted with watercolors mainly the theme of still life and also i painted nude or dressed greek women, most of the time trying to capture the sentualism of them.Most of them are friends of mine and i painted through photo or natural.The artistic style has to do with fauvism and popart. My teacher is mr Castritsis, assistant professor and responsible of the second artistic laboratory of the school of fine arts in florina.Also i've been influenced by mr zografos, painter and writer of several instructional books of arts for the elementary and secondary greek schools.Finaly Demosthenes Avramidis, assistant professor and iconographer of the school gave me a lot of theoretical and practical advises and continue to save me from traps of the artistic life like vanity and pathogenic narcissism.Also V.Bouzas, assistant professor of the multimedia laboratory of the sc...
