Hope Kreps is a self-taught artist who prefers to work in an abstract expressionist style. Hope primarily works with acrylics on canvas, although she has also been known to paint on other surfaces, including plywood.
In her own words, “I am a self-taught artist who loves to paint, to transfer my feelings and moods to the canvas. Emotions are inspiration and color is the source of energy for my paintings. I speak to the outside world through my creativity. My paints and brushes help me tell the story of my life, from my experiences to the places I have seen. As different feelings come together to create a coherent personality, the different colors and brush strokes in my work merge to form a cohesive whole. When I was 19 years old, I visited an exhibition where the works of Kazamir Malevich were presented, and fell in love with abstraction. Since then, abstraction has become my favorite style of painting. It is only through this that I can express myself fully. Abstract from the form, fill the pictures with emotions.”
