Mariët Hylkema

My home and my painting studio can be found in the city of Leiden in The Netherlands. I'm married and have two adult children. I was born (1955) in the Haarlem region. My father grew flower bulbs, especially hyacinths and tulips. My mother loved flowers and painted them. So in my youth I was surrounded with brush and color. During my schooling my talent for drawing was noticed. In addition to my social work I developed as a visual artist.
First as a watercolorist. Nowadays abstract painter multi media. Daily impressions and emotions form the base of my paintings: the representation of my inner world. My art is my passion.
