Artist Statement
I work with landscapes and natural forms as living presences rather than static scenes.
Some places speak quietly, through light, color, rhythm, and subtle movement.
My practice is about slowing down enough to hear that voice.
Through photography, I explore how nature communicates beyond words —
not as a backdrop, but as an active, sensing entity.
Each image is an attempt to translate the atmosphere of a place
and invite the viewer into a state of presence and attentive observation.
Background
I was born in 1963 in Riga, Latvia, and spent my childhood near the Baltic Sea,
among sandy dunes, pine forests, and shifting coastal light.
Early experiences of solitude in nature shaped my way of seeing and listening.
My father, an architect, introduced me to photography, drawing, and visual thinking.
From him, I learned not only technical skills, but the importance of feeling space, form, and rhythm — lessons that continue to guide my work.
