Igor Demchenko is a contemporary figurative artist whose practice explores the landscape as a space of memory, existential silence, and the changing nature of light. Having relocated his practice from Ukraine to Denmark, Demchenko captured a profound visual shift: from the intense, sun-drenched palette of the Black Sea and inland landscapes to the restrained, melancholic, and silver-gray light of the North Sea.
Working with thick, expressive impasto and tactile brushstrokes, he creates psychological landscapes rather than mere depictions of nature. Whether painting monumental sea elements or empty chairs in a sunlit garden, his work focuses on the themes of human presence through absence, solitude, and the fragile beauty of the passing moment. His art bridges two distinct European topographies, uniting them through a masterful command of oil technique and a deep, philosophical gaze.
