Ilie Mitrea

I was born on July 19, 1983 in Tălmaciu, Sibiu County, Romania. In present, I am an employee of the National Brukenthal Museum of Sibiu, as a painting restorer in the oil painting section of the Conservation Laboratory.

Between 1998 and 2002 I’ve studied at the Arts High school in Sibiu, and from 2002 to 2006 I attended the courses of the painting section at the Art and Design University of Cluj-Napoca. In the last months of my master degree project I participated on an Erasmus internship program in Italy, at the “Academia di Belle Arti” of Bari.
In 2013 I completed a PhD at the Art and Design University of Cluj-Napoca, Department of painting, the thesis being entitled “Art and war”.
