Imogen is a english artist, currently based in Cardiff. She specialises in the painting and digital mediums. She graduated from Newcastle University with First Class Honours in 2020.
She is interested in cultural themes and socio-economic issues and created a fantastical surreal parallel world, Oinkling, to express, explore and comment on her observations, interests and ideas. The world is highly accessible, allowing her to present current compelling narratives and messages with dynamic impact. Each piece has numerous references to our environment including politics, society, the economy, and most recently and ongoing COVID-19.
Her inspirations come from news articles, science fiction, film, poetry, comic-books, mythology and philosophy. Much of her creations respect art history and contemporary art, tapping into both its beauty and sometimes dark commentary. Her use of metaphors, clichés and word-play are intrinsic, with some darkly comic results.
2016-2020: Newcastle University BA Hons Fine Art Mark Received: First Class. Studio Mark: 90. Overall Average: 82.4.
Awarded the Hatton Prize: one of the two prizes selected and awarded by the External Examiners for Studio Practice.
