Indra Arriaga

I was born in Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico. I attended school in Texas then moved to San Francisco and currently live in Alaska. I began painting at the age of 15 and I've been at it ever since. I work with oils but I incorporate photography, and mixed media into my work. I find my work draws from past and formative experiences that I wouldn't be able to articulate otherwise. My art speaks to socio-political issues of identity, racism, and the movement of people in an uncertain world.
