Irina Chernitsky is a contemporary artist working in watercolor and pastel, exploring the space between perception and memory.
Her work moves beyond the depiction of objects. Flowers, landscapes, and interiors become emotional structures — vessels through which light, time, and personal experience are transformed into image. She paints not what is seen, but what remains: the trace of having lived within a moment.
Through layered transparency, fluid pigment, and soft dissolution of form, her paintings reflect the way memory reshapes reality — preserving atmosphere while releasing detail. Light plays a central role, not only as illumination, but as a living, shifting presence.
Two ongoing bodies of work define her practice. In Where Light Lives, she explores light as a dynamic force within nature. In Where Memory Settles, the focus turns inward, where everyday subjects — a flower, a window, a landscape — become anchors of memory, carrying associations of home, family, and time.
Her work exists between representation and abstraction, inviting a slower, more attentive way of seeing.
She lives and works in Israel. Her paintings are held in private collections and presented internationally through online galleries.
