Ivars Pommers

My creative practice is primarily in the field of figurative painting. The main source of inspiration for my creative work are images that perform the function of myth propagation in public space. This can be visual content for broadcasting desired narratives, which can be used for commercial purposes or official history and propaganda. I am inspired by the aesthetics of ideologically charged images that reflect the clashes of worldviews and value systems. And I am interested in the mechanisms by which these images not only use, distort, contrast or shape historical contexts, but also affect my everyday life. I rework these images and experiment, creating new visual contexts that speak of the time and space in which I live.
